RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation-Adults)
Disciple Formation
The initials RCIA stand for the "Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults." This program of the Catholic Church is oriented towards those who are searching and inquiring about the Catholic way of life. There is an initial period of inquiry (the “Becoming Catholic” sessions) where individuals are able to learn more about the Catholic faith without fully committing to the process. After this, the catechumens (not baptized) and candidates (baptized but not Catholic) who commit to the RCIA process begin a period of enlightenment and purification as they await the reception of the Sacraments of Initiation at Easter. The initiation process also involves the parish community; inviting them into a renewal of faith as it prepares and welcomes new members into the Church.
If you know anyone wishing to find out more about the sacraments of initiation or would like to become part of the very fulfilling formation team facilitating the RCIA sessions, let us know.
